Why Regina Romero does NOT deserve your vote
In announcing her run for Mayor of Tucson, Councilwoman Regina Romero, “THE” progressive choice for Tucson (as she describes herself) proposed a “7 Point Plan” (below) as her vision for our city. The plan is worth a look by anyone considering voting in this year's municipal election.
Most of the points cover the accustomed genuflections towards better climate, higher wages, and nicer parks (hopefully none that she may want to sell to developers). Her exhortations combined the duly required regurgitations of love for the cops and firefighters (whose budgetary requests she rarely supports) along with the usual patronizing gush of affection for the eternally elusive “small business” owner. There is no mention of the maximum donations she has received in the past from Don Diamond and his friends.
There was, of course, the ritualized token gesture for undefined “sensible gun reform” an expectedly un-bold gesture in any liberal city (like Gabby’s Tucson).
Amazingly Romero also claims that she and her council “built the modern streetcar.” In reality, her main…
